Stephen completed his RYT 200-hour ashtanga vinyasa training with Yoga Dublin in April 2024, following a 100-hour hatha training in Goa, India, in October 2023. Stephen threads traditional and contemporary influences thoughtfully, aspiring to be truthful to yoga’s roots while surprising for today’s practitioners. For Stephen, yoga is a practice in compassion. Allowing us to observe our outer and inner worlds, it facilitates us in befriending and growing closer to our true selves, others, situations and our environment. In turn, we learn to live more open heartedly and with greater acceptance. Stephen favours a slower paced, steady asana practice, encouraging stability and strength, offering variations with an emphasis on accessibility and safety. As a regular gym goer since his late teens — and acquiring a few injuries and quirks along the way — he is mindful of embracing asana in a way that is sympathetic to the physical body’s own story.
