Monique is a graduate of the Irish Yoga Association four years Teacher Training Course (540 contact hours) 2004 – 2008. She did a two week intensive yoga course in Auroville, Tamil Nadu in South India during her 4th year TTC.
Monique has been practising Hatha Yoga for 15 years and Iyengar yoga for 3 years. She started a daily yoga practice during her Teaching Training Course and has been dedicated to it ever since. She finds this really helps her on her life journey, creating inner harmony and balance on a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual level. Monique regularly attends Continuous Professional Development days with the Irish Yoga Association. She loves attending the European Union of Yoga International Congress in Zinal, Switzerland, every Summer, where she finds inspiration in the rich and varied programme of yoga classes, workshops, lectures and in service-training with International teachers.
She has been teaching classic Hatha Yoga since 2006. She starts her classes with a centring and some loosening exercises and then introduces students to yoga postures or Asanas which stretch and strengthen the body. Monique always includes breath work (Pranayama) into her classes and you will quickly learn how your breath influences your mood. She introduces you to meditation techniques using the breath or visualisation and likes to work with sounds/mantras as she found these to be very healing and nurturing. Monique always ends her classes with deep guided relaxation where you surrender your body and mind totally to the present moment.
In 2010 Monique started teaching yoga for people with limited mobility. This is a gentle class for people who are inflexible or suffer from arthritis. In this class students do most of the posture work either standing or sitting on a chair, they do not lie down on their mat as getting up from the floor might be too challenging for them. Monique also includes breath work, meditation and relaxation into this special gentle yoga class.
